Festive Word Embroidery

Show your love in words – stitched from your hands to their heart.

Stitching a special word, name or phrase adds heartfelt sentiment to a piece, making it truly yours or sincerely touching for that special someone.

In this workshop, you will learn how to beautifully embroider festive words on linen so you can create the most treasured keepsakes.

Create napkins to grace your family table, embellish little handmade toys or clothing, or simply handcraft sentiments that let others know what is in your heart.

Easily learn to master essential embroidery stitches so you can adorn beautiful pieces with words, names or sayings that mean so much.

Embroidery is meditative and therapeutic and can help improve your mental and emotional health.  An exceptional time-honoured art, it continues to grow in wonderfully creative ways.

Please know that a little hand-stitching or embroidery experience will be required for this class.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In this workshop you will embroider a linen sampler, focussing on:

• how to begin and end your work on an heirloom piece,
• how to beautifully embroider curved lines in various sizes using backstitch and stem stitch (and French knots if required),
• how to use soluble design transfer,
• how to perfect your stitching of 2 festive words so you can go on to create your own bespoke treasures,
• then take 2 extra festive words home for additional stitching practice or to use on your next project.

All you need for the class is included for you.

Whether you’re fairly new to stitching or already know your way around a needle, our CWA handicraft award winner, Sil, will take you through all the steps and tips to get you stitching with joy and confidence.

*Please note, this workshop includes refreshments which include gluten flours, dairy, nuts, egg and other potential allergens.

• some hand-stitching or embroidery experience is essential
• hands-on practical class with how-to demonstrations along the way
• around 3-4 hours of fun, whilst mindfully creating
• your teacher, Sil, is hugely patient, with years of embroidery experience
• tips shared while going through various techniques to perfect your stitching
• plenty of time for all questions to be answered in a supportive and encouraging environment
• all you need to complete your embroidered sampler are included for you to take home including linen, needle, floss, word transfers and other supplies
• gorgeous French flax linen napkins will also be available for sale if you’d like to create your own heirlooms for Christmas
• a delicious afternoon tea and other homemade treats with bottomless cups of tea and coffee will be served*

By the way, come along to our monthly Makers Mornings  for a great couple of hours over scrummy treats bringing along whatever you’re working on at the time. If you need a hand sorting out a stitching issue or simply want to refresh your stitching memory, our expert Makers will be on hand to assist. Workshop bookings are non-refundable but you’re welcome to send someone in your place if you can’t attend.

The ticket is also non-transferable after the workshop has been held in case you forgot to come or were unable to attend.
