WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
In this demonstration workshop demonstration, you will learn the art of making the perfect sponge cake, from mixing the wonderful cornflour-based batter, to filling it with fresh jam, fruit and mouthwatering ‘Devonshire-style’ cream.
Learn how to stabilise your cream filling so it always stays firm and luscious.
We’ll demystify the how to’s, giving you the confidence to bake at home.
Once ready to serve, we’ll enjoy our gorgeous sponge together over afternoon tea.
Whether you’re an absolute beginner to baking, or already know your way around an oven, our CWA baking award-winer, Sil, will take you through all the steps, tips and tricks to ensure you master the art of making and serving this iconic Australian bake.
Our little pop-up shop will also be open, showcasing gorgeous handmade treasures for that special gift or take-home treat.
Please note, this class is based on refreshments which include gluten flours, dairy, nuts, egg and other potential allergens.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER, SILVANA GRIFFIN
Former President of the Country Women’s Association Sydney City Branch (CWA), Sil is an avid home baker and preserver and has been awarded numerous blue ribbons in baking, preserving and handicraft across branch, group and State levels over the last 12 years.
Keen to share her love of sponge-making, Sil will help demystify this revered skill, answer your questions and set you on your way to making and baking with confidence.
