Learning the essential steps, stitches and techniques will ensure you have the confidence to continue your knitting odyssey at home. You’ll be surprised at how simple it really is to start.

Revel in a newly-found, time-honoured skill. Prepare to be completely addicted!

 

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

In this workshop, you will learn the art of knitting and will make a beautiful knitted lavender bag or glasses case.

During the workshop, our knitting legend, Judy, will teach you:

  • the types of yarn available and how to match to your needles
  • how to master and recognise basic stitches and techniques
  • how to read a basic pattern and the standard abbreviations used
  • essential stitches including casting on and off
  • how to knit and purl to create garter, stocking and rib stitches
  • how to knit an eyelet
  • how to sew up your finished seam
  • the differences between English and Continental knitting.

We’ll arm you with all you need, and need to know, to be able to make and finish your project beautifully. Then take your new skill home to keep making. Practice really does make perfect!

 

*Please note, this workshop includes refreshments which include gluten flours, dairy, nuts, egg and other potential allergens.

Workshop bookings are non-refundable but you’re welcome to send someone in your place if you can’t attend.

The ticket is also non-transferable after the workshop has been held in case you forgot to come or were unable to attend.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER, JUDY VALIC

Learning to both knit and crochet from her dear mum when just a little girl, Judy hugely passionate about handcrafting with either needles or a hook!

Inspired by a long line of crafters and today’s handmaking community, she often develops her own patterns to knit treasures for those she loves.

With some 50 years of knitting know-how, Judy is keen to share her much loved skills, simplifying and enriching your learning experience. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, she will patiently take you through all you need to know, answer your questions and set you on your way to knitting with confidence.
