WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Our CWA jam master, Sil, will take you through all the steps, tips and techniques to ensure you master the art of safely preserving the best of seasonal fruits.

You will learn:

  • the differences in fruit, pectin, acid, sugar and how this all works when making jam
  • how to select the best produce for preserving, the jars that are best for preserving in
  • how to preserve safely and for longevity
  • tips and tricks for getting a deliciously set result, helping you avoid any jamming pitfalls.

Leave with a new-found confidence in a valuable, time-honoured life skill to share with your family, friends and community.

Workshop bookings are non-refundable but you’re welcome to send someone in your place if you can’t attend.

The ticket is also non-transferable after the workshop has been held in case you forgot to come, or were unable to attend.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER, SILVANA GRIFFIN

Former President of the Country Women’s Association Sydney City Branch (CWA), Sil is an avid preserver and home baker, and has been awarded numerous blue ribbons in baking, preserving and handicraft across branch, group and State levels over the last 10 years.

She is also one of the founding members of CWA Sydney City’s rise in jam making, teaching, coordinating and selling thousands of fund-raising jars across Carriageworks, Hyde Park Barracks and North Sydney Community markets.

Keen to share her know-how, Sil will help demystify this revered skill, answer your questions and set you on your way to making and preserving with confidence.
