The history of the teddy bear

• While it seems like stuffed bears have been for centuries, the teddy bear as we know it today was only created in 1902.
• The first teddy bear was made in Brooklyn, New York, in response to a historical moment when then President Teddy Roosevelt refused to shoot a black bear that had been tied to a tree and offered to him as sport.
• It wasn’t long before cuddly stuffed bears were being crafted around the world, quickly becoming a favourite bedtime toy for children and keepsake gift for a new baby.
